The illumination of the canyon by morning light is something to be experienced, not just viewed. With this plein air piece, I tried to capture the cool dampness of the morning, the awakening of the flora and fauna, and the light as it leaps from ridge to ridge. It was also a chance for me to experiment with acrylic touches atop watercolor foundations, and will lead to further such exploration in the future.
